We received the following message from Toby Lepley at the State 4-H office:
The Louisiana 4-H Program has reached out to Texas 4-H to ask for our help in assisting with the flood relief efforts in southern Louisiana. As we all know, the southern part of the state was recently devastated with record rain fall right at the time youth were planning on going back to school. Due to the rains and the damage experienced many youth in the region have not been able to return to school, much less been able to shop for school supplies. The Louisiana 4-H Program is asking for donations of general school supplies which can be distributed to the youth of southern Louisiana.
Texas 4-H is asking for you to please promote this service projects to the 4-H clubs and members in your county. If 4-H members and/or clubs would like to adopt this as their One Day 4-H Project and conduct it early, that is great – we just want to help our friends to the east. All supplies should be shipped directly to the Louisiana AgCenter in Baton Rouge. The shipping address is on the promotional pieces attached.
